The Movie: Ceiling Zero (1936), directed by aviation-minded Howard Hawkes, starring James Cagney, Milwaukee native Pat O’Brien and June Travis. Trouble follows when “Dizzy” Davis (James Cagney), an experienced but irresponsible barnstormer, joins Federal Air Lines as a pilot, and, as a result of one of his selfish actions, a fellow-pilot crashes to death in a fog. After he learns that his license will not be renewed, Dizzy makes amends in his own fashion.
