The Movie: “Air Hostess” (1933)
Filled with real golden age aircraft in action (extra points if you can spot and name each one), Air Hostess (1933) is a rip-roaring, fast paced romp. The daughter of a pilot killed in WWI, Kitty is now a TWA air hostess, looked after by her father’s pilot friends. Kitty’s attraction to a ne’er do well barnstorming pilot is frowned upon by her meddlesome chaperones, but that won’t stop the drama from unfolding. Don’t worry, there’s a happy ending – but not before a jam-packed hour of flying sequences, crashes, fist fights, and speakeasies.
