Vintage Aviation Movie Night: Central Airport

Join us for our monthly Vintage Aviation Movie Night at the Kelch Aviation Museum on May 18th! Pizza and soft drinks at 6:30, movie starts at 7pm.
The Movie:
Central Airport (1933): Directed by the prolific William A. Wellman, this drama tells the story of aviator Jim Blaine and his brother Neil, rivals not only as daredevil flyers but also for the love of parachutist Jill Collins.
Fun Facts:
Central Airport showcases a number of contemporary aircraft, all gathered under the direction of noted Hollywood pilot Paul Mantz. These aircraft include:
– Alexander Eaglerock
– American Eagle A-101
– Fairchild 71
– Four Ford Tri-motor airliners
– Pitcairn PA-5 Mailwing
– Stearman C3
– Two Travel Air 4000 biplanes, just like the one on display in the museum!
Central Airport proved to be one of Paul Mantz’s most dangerous films: Two crashes punctuated the action and in one of them, Mantz suffered a broken collar bone when he rolled out of a careening aircraft and was struck by the tailwheel.
The Kelch Aviation Museum hosts an aviation movie night on the third Thursday of each month. Check our events calendar to see what films are coming up!
