The Movie: Flying Down To Rio (1933)
This zesty, zingy musical is the movie that made Ginger Rogers and Fred Astaire stars! The goofy plot concerns a bandleader-slash-aviator who’s always fired for flirting too much on the job, his all-American jazz band, and the South American beauty he’s desperate to woo. Delight in the slangy innuendo, jazzy musical numbers, and outrageous optical effects—all leading up to the high-flying finale, in which a bevy of chorus girls dance on the wings of airplanes soaring over South America.
